Domaine Joseph Voillot

Ten hectares make up the impeccable Joseph Voillot domaine, managed since 1995 by Jean-Pierre Charlot. A fun-loving, yet serious vintner, Mr Charlot boasts a body as extraordinarily built as a professional Sumo wrestler. He displays a renewed enthusiasm of the centuries old rivalry between Britain and France in sport competition, and takes joy whenever the French register a win over the British on the pitch. Visitors could find themselves being generously treated if the French emerge triumphant over the British in a game of rugby or football before their visit, we suspect. Nevertheless, for many Côte de Beaune red wine lovers, a visit to the Volnay and Pommard stalwart at this domaine right next to the small church square in Volnay is by any account an inviting experience. Under Jean-Pierre’s stewardship this domaine, which has a range of exceptional 1er Crus to its name, continues to be an essential reference in this part of Burgundy.
