Domaine René Lequin-Colin

Domaine René Lequin-Colin was created by husband and wife team René Lequin and Josette Colin back in 1993, but the viticulture practice of the Lequin family in Santenay goes back all the way to 1679. Following the couple’s retirement in 2006, the domaine of 9 ha has been under the careful management of their son François, who had studied “some basics” at Avize in the Champagne region further north, before realising the fact that everything else with wine making had to be learned “each day in the field”. The domaine is well-represented in the villages of Chassagne and Santenay. Like most hard-working vintners, François usually arrives very early in the morning to the office, sometimes to the unwillingness of his two lovely daughters, and goes on to join his team in the vineyard two hours later at 8. The domaine has a wonderful collection of village and crus, including deliciously made and hotly demanded Grand Crus in the Côte de Beaune.
